FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 9, 2003 BUECHEL FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICTNew Firefighter graduates from County-wide recruit class.Firefighter Paul "Jake" Barker from Buechel was one of many new firefighters who graduated this evening at a ceremony at Baptist Hospital East. Buechel has participated in the County-wide recruit class since it began. The combined class concept is one that fills the needs of many departments since most of the basic training is similar, although there are subtle differences in operational procedures in each department. Each department is responsible to provide the recruits with equipment and support throughout the 40 week class. Jake is the only Buechel firefighter from class 5 that started off with 50 recruits. At graduation, only 34 remained. Firefighting is a very hard profession and only the best and strongest are able to complete the grueling training and job requirements. Jake was also voted on by his peers at our last training meeting on April 8, 2003. For More Information Contact:
